Park Overview
Westmoreland Lake is located on Lake Road just off US Hwy 31E/231. As noted in the History of Westmoreland, the lake was formed to be the original water source for the city’s drinking water. Now, Westmoreland gets its water from the City of Gallatin. The lake is maintained by the city but needs a lot of care. TWRA inspected the lake and sent the City an analysis of the lake and offered suggestions.
Improvement Opportunities
•The roadway to the lake is narrow and should be paved.
•Parking is limited to non-existent. Additional parking should be added for increased visitor capacity.
•The lake needs to be dredged of sediment to improve depth and wildlife habitat.
•Add a walking trail around the lake’s perimeter with multiple trailheads/entry points.
•A pavilion and accessible restroom would be a nice addition to the Lake property as would benches and other site amenities.
