Parks, Programs, and Places that Serve the Whole Community

From neighborhood playgrounds and ballfields to memorial spaces, walking areas, and local traditions like the Saddle Club, Westmoreland’s parks are here for everyday life and special occasions alike. Our goal is to help residents easily find where to go, what is happening, and how to take part.

Explore Westmoreland’s Parks

Our parks offer places to play, gather, remember, compete, and enjoy time outdoors. Each location serves a different purpose, and together they help make Westmoreland a stronger, more connected community.

Westmoreland Sports & Clubs

Our local leagues and community sports programs give children and families opportunities to learn, compete, build friendships, and represent Westmoreland with pride.

Soccer

Westmoreland Soccer gives young athletes a place to learn the game, stay active, and grow as teammates. Whether your child is just getting started or developing skills for the future, soccer is a great way to build confidence, make friends, and be part of the community. The league is not currently active, but we hope to bring it back in the near future.

Softball

Westmoreland Little League softball provides girls and families with opportunities to play, improve, and compete in a positive team setting. From practices to game day, the program helps build confidence, discipline, and community pride.

This page is for parents, coaches and community leaders to come together in one location to communicate and help solve the most pressing problem in Westmoreland, maintain and grow our community parks

We are thankful for the families, volunteers, coaches, and supporters who care deeply about these spaces. Because our parks are used and loved by so many, we want to share a few updates and also give a little background for those who may not know how some of this works.

The Westmoreland Parks & Recreation Committee is a volunteer group that works to help improve and support our local parks. In addition, Friends of Westmoreland Parks & Recreation is a nonprofit organization created to help raise support, funding, and resources for our parks and recreational spaces. Along with Westmoreland Little League and many generous community members, these groups work together to make our parks and ballfields the best they can possibly be.

We are always looking for volunteers, donations, and input from the community as we continue working to make our parks even better for the children and families of Westmoreland.

As use of the parks continues to grow, we want to make the community aware of an important update moving forward. There will be fees for certain organized uses of the ballfields, including organized leagues, tournaments, fundraisers, special events, and other organized team activities.

We want everyone to know that these updates are not intended as a way to make money off the parks. Instead, they are meant to help protect the interests of the City of Westmoreland, support the care and upkeep of the fields, and help ensure these spaces continue to improve for the children and families who use them now and in the future.

Over the last couple of years, we have made several improvements, and we hope the community has been able to see those changes. We plan to continue making strides as we move forward. It is also important to recognize that Westmoreland Little League has made significant investments of time and money into these fields, and many others in our community have also donated time, labor, resources, and financial support to help make our parks better.

We also want to be clear about what this does not mean. These are city parks, and if a mother, father, grandparent, or child wants to go out to the field to hit, throw, run the bases, or practice, that is absolutely what the fields are there for. We want families to enjoy and use these parks.

The change applies when there is organized group or team use, because that level of use creates added wear, maintenance needs, and responsibility. In those situations, it is only fair that organized groups help contribute to keeping the fields maintained and improving them for everyone.

Another important part of this update is protecting the City of Westmoreland from liability. For organized events and organized team use, liability insurance will be required. This is simply to help protect the city and make sure the fields can continue to be used responsibly.

We are also excited about things to come in 2026. A Westmoreland Parks & Recreation website is in the works that will include a calendar of events and information about each league, including the Saddle Club. We are also looking to bring each league’s Facebook page into one place so families and community members can more easily find updates and information.

In addition, we are currently working on the 1st Annual Friends of Westmoreland Parks & Recreation 5K Run, planned for the first part of May. More information will be coming soon.

At the end of the day, this is about good stewardship. These parks belong to our community, and we want to continue making them better. We appreciate everyone who has invested time, effort, and support into these spaces, and we thank you for helping us continue to build something special for today’s kids and for future generations.

If you have questions or would like more information, please email WestmorelandParksAndRecreation@gmail.com, send us a message through this page, or call Jay Tucker at 615-669-7665.

Does this include the use of concessions to be able to make money to help pay for field use or to help the team or organization raise money? The concessions stands do belong to the city as well. Does this also include the field tha was left to the ppl of Westmoreland that 9 - 12 play on at this time. The mayor stated little league will all go into the big park and the other small field will be for the use of the other organized sports like football and soccer? Who will handle the reservations and schedule of the fields? Just a few questions that ppl have asked me and I said I would find out??

Looking forward to more information on the 5k.

Sorry , also when will the basketball court be redone so you can actually dribble a ball on a flat surface? This is exciting knowing updates are going to happen!!!

The volleyball court located behind the library will be closed temporarily for maintenance. ... See MoreSee Less
